I'll start with the general caveat that it's best to let the backup software decide when things should be backed up. That said, it sounds like you have a situation where it really is best to force backups to start at a particular time (I have some as well). Put an entry into /etc/crontab: 00 03 7 9 * backuppc /usr/share/backuppc/bin/BackupPC_serverMesg backup host.domain.tld host.domain.tld backuppc 1 This sends a message to the backup server to queue up a backup job. If there are no jobs already queued, and the maximum number of user-queued backups is not already running, the backup will go off at that time.
