Im currently running a backup now, and all is well so far. I will keep and eye out for any errors in the logs. Is the Archive space where the backups are stored? There is also a 'archive' option with backupPC but I think this involves backing up to tape device.

Are you trying to use a smb/cifs mounted filesystem as the archive space for backuppc? I wouldn't expect that to work since backuppc needs to be
able to make hard links to the pool area.  Be sure to check your log
files for link errors.
