Jean-Gérard, did you ever solve your problem? I'm using a package called xtar that correctly handles OS X resource forks, but it would be great to use rsync instead.
Does anyone know if Leopard's rync plays nicer with linux rsync? Almost all of my clients are currently OS X 10.4, but eventually they will be 10.5 thanks for your time and insights, Matthew Jean-Gérard Pailloncy wrote: > Hi, > > I just upgrade my iMac to Leopard and BackupPC stops working... > > I have a iMac with 10.5.1 connected to the Net with an ADSL. > I have a server OpenBSD in a DataCenter with BackupPC. > > Because of ADSL and Ressource Fork, I was using a patched rsync from > http://home.onthenet.com.au/~q/rsync/ > rsync version 2.6.6 protocol version 29 > Copyright (C) 1996-2005 by Andrew Tridgell and others > with patch for Extended Attributes > -E, --extended-attributes copy extended attributes > -X, --hfs-export export extended attributes > --hfs-import import to HFS volume with extended attributes > --ea-checksum always checksum extended attributes > > Now, I have got (aborted by signal=PIPE). > If I switch back to the Leopard rsync, I got (Child exited prematurely). > > What else can I do ? > > JG > > Running: /usr/bin/ssh -C -q -x -l root xxxxxx.xxx.xxx > /usr/local/bin/rsync-ea --hfs-export --server --sender --numeric-ids > --perms --owner --group -D --links --times --block-size=2048 --recursive > --checksum-seed=32761 --one-file-system --exclude=/dev --exclude=/cores > --exclude=/private/tmp --exclude=/private/var/tmp > --exclude=/private/var/vm --exclude=/automount --exclude=/Network > --exclude=/Volumes --exclude=/._Network --exclude=.Trashes > --exclude=Temporary\\\ Items --exclude=.TemporaryItems > --exclude=.hotfiles.btree --exclude=.vol --exclude=Desktop\\\ DB > --exclude=Desktop\\\ DF --exclude=Caches --exclude=Cache > --exclude=.Spotlight-V100 --exclude=Indexes --exclude=.FBCIndex > --exclude=.FBCLockFolder --exclude=.FBCSemaphoreFile > --exclude=._.localized --exclude=.DS_Store --exclude=.jpi_cache > --exclude=.Trash --exclude=Envelope\\\ Index . /Users/jg/ > Xfer PIDs are now 9553 > Got remote protocol 29 > Checksum caching enabled (checksumSeed = 32761) > Xfer PIDs are now 9553,1579 > Read EOF: > Tried again: got 0 bytes > Child is aborting > Can't write 16 bytes to socket > Done: 0 files, 0 bytes > Got fatal error during xfer (aborted by signal=PIPE) > Backup aborted by user signal > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > SF.Net email is sponsored by: The Future of Linux Business White Paper > from Novell.
