I use rsync over SSH for all my Linux machines. The advantage is that the client setup is really easy. I just copy the public SSH key to the client and I can back it up without setting up any daemons (rsyncd) or other software. Plus the traffic is encrypted which is nice if you're backing up over the internet as I am.
