for the archives: the important thing to note is that DumpPreUserCmd (as well as DumpPostUserCmd, DumpPreShareCmd, and DumpPostShareCmd) are run on the BackupPC server, so you need to add a mechanism to run it on the client (usually ssh or ssh + sudo) if that is what you need.
