I am using a single-core (old Pentium 2 500MHz) as server with Debian Lenny (testing). On the server my BackupPC is version 3.1.0-4, openssh (server/client) is version 1:5.1p1-3, openssl 0.9.8g-13 and rsync, version 3.0.3-2 (all lenny default) On the client (Windows XP SP3) I use cygwin (cygwin1.dll Version 1005.25.0.0) with openssl (0.9.8i 15 Sep 2008), openssh 5.1p1, rsync version 3.0.4. But I do not believe that ssh is the problem, because I can use the by BackupPC established ssh-tunnel with an external rsync (with protocol 30) to copy all my files.
