Nils, thanks for the quick response. $Conf{MaxUserBackups} seems to work in conjunction with $Conf{MaxBackups} to restrict the total number of simultaneous backups that can be run. My tests appear to confirm this as a user is still able to manually start a backup when this value is set to 0 and no other backup is running.
I was hoping to find a solution which prevents the user from starting a backup but allows for a restore whenever required. Have I missed your point?
