I understand why the cpool files are compressed using zlib with a
twist so that you can also save the checksums.

But why do the log files have to be in a format that can't be read
with standard unix tools? Especially since the system logs sit in
/var/log along with all the other files that get compressed with
either gzip or bzip2.

That would seem to be easier than being forced to either open a web
browser or enter the full path to
/usr/share/BackupPC/bin/BackupPC_zcat as it is stored on my system.

I'm sure I'm missing something here...
