It was pinging my pc and not backing it up as the ping was taking too long. Since we don't have local DNS, the pings were hitting a different (non-local) server. I added my machine to the hosts file and it's working now, but I guess this isn't a real solution for machines that use DHCP. Why is backuppc trying to ping the machine, while it uses netbios to find actual machines to do the backup? Shouldn't it resolved the name to the ip using netbios first and then ping the ip?
