There's well over 600 gigs available on the current storage pool so I
don't think this is the issue. I've just gone through and checked all
settings from the GUI aswell and there's nothing in place saying backups
should be disabled at all.

How does backuppc decide when there is not enough disk space to consider
performing backups?
