This problem doesn't necessarily mean open files. It could simply mean that
it is having trouble reading a directory listing.
 
I get this error quite a bit on some two older laptops. And it's almost
always on the same directory. Rsync did not solve the problem either. It
ended up abandoning BackupPC for them. However, I would love to get rid of
the laptops as well.
 
Make sure your Windows machines have been defragmented.
 
I believe that increasing the 20000 ms requirement would involve recompiling
the kernel.

I'm using xfer method SMB to backup a server
the whole job fails with this error
 
"Call timed out: server did not respond after 20000 
milliseconds opening remote file "
 
Is there anyway to adjust this or tell the job to skip
files that are open etc ...?
