that depends on how much the archive file changes. If it's a compressed archive, rsync is unlikely to be able to speed up anything. If it's uncompressed, I would guess it might work, but you'd have to try it out for yourself (you can do that locally and just look at the statistics rsync -v prints). I'd expect it to take quite a while to analyze the file before transfer starts. Don't be disappointed if it doesn't work. How large is your archive file, how slow is your network link?
