Hello everyone, I'm currently trying to install BackupPC on the QNAP TS-509 Pro NAS system. So far I managed to get through the installation and I can start the server by calling the executable as user "backuppc": /path/to/installation/bin/BackupPC
This call results in the PID printed on the command line and I can communicate with the server as described in the documentation (Installing BackupPC, Step 7: Talking to BackupPC). I'd like to set up the init.d script, but none of the scripts generated during the installation worked. I guess the linux distribution used on the QNAP NAS is too different from Debian, Suse, RedHat and the like. I *could* start digging into System V, but maybe someone here has a working solution already? Also, I'd like to know if there's a way to start BackupPC in daemon mode? Maybe I missed that section in the docs, but judging from the generated init.d scripts it seems as if it relies on some system calls to start in daemon mode.
