Is there a way to generate the tarball from the command > line so I can put it right on the usb brick? Just use a command like that (run as backuppc user): BackupPC_tarCreate -t -h $host -n $backupnumber -s '*' . | gzip > /mnt/usb/$host-$backupnumber.tar.gz ($backupnumber may be -1 for the last backup). BTW: My Firefox doesn't do that. It downloads straight where I want it to - maybe just configure your Firefox to ask for a download destination, then choose your USB brick?
