BackupPC version 3.1.0 BackupPC was operating OK on Fedora10, not sure what version this was running. I have a dump of all files from Fedora 10 so I am able to compare config data.
After upgrading to Fedora 12 it is not working correctly. The only backup configured is for the server itself onto an attached USB drive. I created a clean data environment by coping the directories from the standard installion area. I copied the config files from Fedora10 and after resolving the SSH problems caused by SElinux, BackupPC is now creating backup files on the USB drive. However, the GUI is telling me that no backup has completed: "This PC has never been backed up!! " Clicking on the LOG link for the pc has the error message "Can't open log file". Under the pc data area there is a Log file with contents: 2010-05-22 21:44:37 full backup started for directory /export1 2010-05-23 01:08:59 full backup started for directory /home 2010-05-23 01:22:56 full backup started for directory /var 2010-05-23 01:24:09 full backup started for directory /boot 2010-05-23 01:24:14 full backup started for directory /usr/local 2010-05-23 01:24:14 full backup started for directory /usr 2010-05-23 01:36:57 full backup 0 complete, 807649 files, 188550527063 bytes, 2 xferErrs (0 bad files, 0 bad shares, 2 other) (I always used to get the 2 xferErrs under fedora10, so this was expected). I suspect that it is some form of authentication issue. There are no more SElinux errors so I don't think it is this. I have checked the Apache logs, nothing significant. I have compared the Apache config files. There was a small difference in the /etc/httpd/conf.d/BackupPC.conf file, but this seemed to be an error in the Fedora10 file - a missing " at the end of the line: AuthName "BackupPC" Has anyone got an idea of what to do to fix this? Without access to the backup data controls in the GUI it is difficult to rely on the backups for recovery and so not able to use the server for any serious work until this is sorted.
