When you say 'I use sudoed tar' do you mean you changed your TarClientCmd like so?: $Conf{TarClientCmd} = '/usr/bin/env LC_ALL=C /usr/bin/sudo $tarPath -c -v -f - -C $shareName --totals'; If you weren't already aware you can put that in a file named for that particular host and redefine the variable for just that host. My example above comes from '/etc/backuppc/localhost.pl' but this is a Debian box (easiest BackupPC install) and I don't know what distro you're using. -- Carl Soderstrom Systems Administrator Real-Time Enterprises www.real-time.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ All the data continuously generated in your IT infrastructure contains a definitive record of customers, application performance, security threats, fraudulent activity, and more.
