Every time I have created a new client I have to run:
/sudo -u backuppc /usr/share/backuppc/bin/BackupPC_dump -v -f [insert_your_backupclient_name_here]/
This is the first suggestion at; http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/backuppc/index.php?title=TroubleshootingI am suggesting this because, if my memory serves me correctly, it allows you to accept the ssh string. Just let the backuppc complete and in a day or so backuppc will process the client properly. (I never really researched why BackupPC does this. I just discovered that this works for my "first time backups" and all works great after.) This has always been my work around for this first backup failure issue.

Hey guys i've been trying for like 12 hrs to get BackupPC to work. im not Amazing at linux, but i have tried Tar, Rsync, etc. each thing has a reason it fails. i got ssh set up and tested it and it works fine via ssh keys. using Tar, it errors (no files to dump) if i leave the "BackupZeroFilesIsFatal" box checked, it errors if there's less files in the attempted backup than the prev one, and even if i un-check it, it errors (65280 ) on a random .png file that seems to be fine. can sum1 plz help me. i know BackupPC is supposed to be one of the best so i must be missing something ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Virtualization& Cloud Management Using Capacity Planning Cloud computing makes use of virtualization - but cloud computing also focuses on allowing computing to be delivered as a service. http://www.accelacomm.com/jaw/sfnl/114/51521223/ _______________________________________________ BackupPC-users mailing list [email protected] List: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/backuppc-users Wiki: http://backuppc.wiki.sourceforge.net Project: http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/
