THANKS. I'm not sure I would have figured that one out. ICMP is often
blocked these days so I would think this may be a common issue for backupPC?
Ok i put in /bin/true and now it seems to be starting the backup process now -
onwards to more testing now. thanks again.

Backuppc won't continue if the ping test fails. Change $Conf{PingCmd}
to something that will succeed like /bin/true.
