Hi,

The counterpart server is located through a WiFi connection in a different building. And yes, it's slow. I have very high I/O waits on my BackupPC server while it's connected and in sync. So I usually disconnect (by cron) when a BackupPC task is scheduled to run. And during daytime (when no backup is running) I reconnect and the re-sync of the device begins. Well, not perfect and obviously does not protect from all types of failures but it helps. Maybe I'll create a LVM snapshot on the remote server... Any special questions you're looking at?
