the original question was about installing *BackupPC* together with the pool on a separate disk. My answer to that one is: it's the wrong step toward some unknown goal. Forget about that and follow Arnold's advice. Mount the disk to /var/lib/backuppc and then 'apt-get install backuppc'. Or describe what you are trying to achieve.
