Hi everyone! Me and my colleagues are setting up a backuppc server to manage our backups at the company. The server will be hosted in the cloud. We got the basic backups working, easy using the default setting.
We have offices on several different locations, and on some of the locations we have bandwidth issues. So uploading the backups to the cloud would be very inefficient and expensive. We do however have a NAS located in each one of the offices. I'm wondering if it is possible to instead of transferring the backups to the backuppc server, just send it straight to the NAS in the offices. It is a mixed environment with several *nix boxes win severs and win7 desktops. We plan on using rsync for the *nix boxes, and to backup locked files (outlook .pst files) in windows we will base it on the scrips located here: http://www.goodjobsucking.com/?p=62 If transferring the backups to the remote NAS'es works, how would backuppc keep track of checksums, validations etc? Thanks heaps!
