Dear friends, I am curious to implement linux based backup solution within my development environment. I have one physical apache server, one physical mysql server, 20 mac work stations, 2 linux workstation and one windows workstations.
Presently I am doing the daily apache (htdocs) and mysql backup at the apache server itself. No backup of client data. The problem is the server has to scarifies its CPU resource to do the backup hence the performance lag of apache during backup. The daily full backup (compressed mysql DB & webroot of all htdocs) consume almost 100 GB. I have gone through a little about NAS and SAN but don't realize yet the right box for my environment. I also need to backup user data from their work station. Also Storing Server & client image (snapshot) at night is preferable. Id backuppc is the right tool for industry grade backup ? Please suggest.
