Unfortunately as an all-rounder doing everything, I am always a newbie at something. But I've also been on the other side of the situation, I know how so many people out there are happy to ask for help without even looking at the docs. So please believe me, I did read the docs - and puzzle over why it still wasn't working for me. And I tried the commands out on the command line. And so I solved it by trial and error. The first error was indeed passwordless logins not working - but not the passwordless login that I thought was required and had double and triple checked! I was checking root to root and backuppc to backuppc, but then I realised it was actually backuppc to root which was required. Doh! The second error was just a matter of trial and error to figure out what was required for the $shareName, the -C option on tar. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, SlashDot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot _______________________________________________ BackupPC-users mailing list [email protected] List: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/backuppc-users Wiki: http://backuppc.wiki.sourceforge.net Project: http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/
