Can you send a failing XferLOG, or at least the interesting parts (eg,
first and last ~100 lines) if it is too big)?
Last week I pushed a commit
<https://github.com/backuppc/backuppc/commit/85675ef1a8d1ff3dca3c9716a29d67405af5ff8a>
that supports the pax format headers from smbclient for long pathnames.
That might be worth trying.
