Are you doing your backups over SSH (rsync over ssh), or some other
mechanism (tar, smb)? If so, you'll need to copy (at least) the private side
of the ssh key from ~backuppc/.ssh/. I'm just mentioning it to be sure you
don't forget it.

These two things (and the SSH keys) should suffice, IIRC. If you can move
the external drive from one computer to another, that will give you a quick
and easy data migration from one computer to the other.
