What sort of performance have others found when backing up to USB2/3?
This is more a statement to pay attention to your I/O speed than
anything. If you have a blazin' fast USB 3.1 array, you may not see a
lot of difference between that and, say, SATA or iSCSI. If you have a
consumer-grade USB 2 "backup" drive and think it's up to the task of
supporting a pool-based backup system for a dozen systems, you're likely
to be sorely disappointed, and are better off using whatever software
came with it.
