Problem seems to be due to the root filesystem that was mounted as read-only for some reason. (only root fs, not the backuppc storage)
Can't figure out the real reason from logs, anyway after shutting down and restarting the VM, everything seems to be fine. Backuppc is correctly in idle status (no jobs pending) I'll keep that checked in next days, and, if in case, I'll update you. Thanks everybody, have a nice day!
