Hmmm. I really need to duplicate the problem here.  However, thanks for the 
quick turn around, without your testing, it would take an eternity to get to 
the bottom of this.

I think we are close to a solution now, and in any case, the base algorithm is 
much better.  Hopefully, it is a small matter of tweaking things ...

I'll look carefully at your output today.
