Bat will not run with any Director less than something like 2.1.18.  It may 
seem to run, but at some point it will either crash or stall.

I cannot say that bat is "mature" software, but it is being officially 
released.   That said, it is a *first* release, we have not yet added all 
planned features.  However, it is a giant step ahead of all the GUI consoles 
we previously had (gconsole, wx-console).
