I'm sure that Dan will provide one in due time ...

Good question: Yes, there will be a Win32 version of bat at some point in the
future.

Bacula is a collaborative project, and on several occasions, I have requested
regression testers for Win32, today, we have none. *Much* more importantly,
I requested testing restore of the current Win32 FD now that support for
reparse points is implemented. No one has ever offered any feedback. So that
sends me a strong signal that no one really cares enough to help.

I spent a huge amount of time during 2.2.0 development fixing Win32 encryption
bugs and adding reparse point and Vista support to the Win32 FD. Given the
above lack of interest from the community, I have downgraded my Win32
priorities significantly, and instead of implementing bat on Win32, I spent
the time ensuring that bat could be built on Linux/Unix platforms that do not
yet have Qt4.

Fortunately there there are some signs of Win32 interest -- e.g. John
Drescher's Win32 work as well as a msvc build patch.

At some time later, I will either regain my enthusiasm to work on Win32 again
or perhaps there will be a little more Win32 interest from users, which is
always contagious for developers.

That said, please be aware that there is a significant amount of Win32 code
that needs to be rewritten so that we can "legally" support OpenSSL in the
Win32 FD. I have given that project (medium to large size) priority over
bat.

Kern
