Ted Ts'o put up a posting asking for a good backup solution, specifically one 
with a good database catalog of what's been backed up.  He has, of course, 
been pointed at Bacula =)

Even more interesting, he's talking about the possibility of a FUSE plugin for 
the catalog, which would allow you to view backups as plain old filesystems. 
I don't know if it would really be practical or not, but it's certainly a very 
neat idea.
