To me the crashing increased frequency after I upgraded my work
windows development system to new hardware but still XP SP3. I
installed everything fresh along with the all the latest Microsoft
patches. I am thinking one of these microsoft patches has caused this
to occur more frequently. The other difference is that the old machine
was 1 core with 2GB of memory while the new is 2 cores with 4GB of
memory.

To me this really is not a big deal, I use bwx-console less than 1
time per week on average and if needed I can always use bconsole
either locally or via ssh to one of the 20 or so linux servers on the
network. I actually do that more often because I usually have a putty
window or two open logged in to one of the linux servers.
