Hello, A couple of points: 1. This must be submitted as a bug report since it is nearly impossible to fix such problems by email.
2. We have had various problems with Etch in the past. I would strongly recommend you upgrade to Lenny. If you cannot upgrade, we will not be able to help you because Etch produces invalid tracebacks. That is, without an upgrade to Lenny, submitting a bug report isn't worth the effort as we will have to close it until you upgrade. 3. I don't particularly recommend this, but one possibility of resolving the problem without upgrading to Lenny would be to stop all the Bacula daemons, then: mv /lib/tls /lib/xtls and restart the Bacula daemons. This will cause Bacula to use the old glibc pthreads which is known to work with Bacula. This may or may not resolve the problem -- I am unsure because Etch produces bad tracebacks, so the information it gives (seg fault in /lib/tls/...) is possibly wrong. I do not recommend this solution, and if you ever apply an update, you will need to put back /lib/tls before the update and remove it after -- this is not very clean! In any case, if you do move /lib/tls and Bacula works, it is a *strong* indication that an upgrade to Lenny is required. 4. If you upgrade to Lenny and the same problem occurs, then please submit the traceback, your bacula-dir, and bacula-sd conf files to the bug report.
