Hi,

I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if I missunderstood the accurate
option.

http://www.bacula.org/manuals/en/concepts/concepts/New_Features.html#SECTION00310000000000000000

I was suprised that a differential job with the accurate option enabled wants
to backup nearly all files in a fileset again during differential backup. Where
the backup job without the accurate option would backup just 390 MB.

estimate Level=Differential Job=VU0EF005-INV-Volume1 accurate=no
2000 OK estimate files=5306 bytes=389,594,861

estimate Level=Differential Job=VU0EF005-INV-Volume2 accurate=yes
2000 OK estimate files=13328 bytes=7,133,512,989,958

for comparision a full backup:

estimate Level=Full Job=VU0EF005-INV-Volume2 accurate=yes
2000 OK estimate files=13335 bytes=7,133,517,546,143

I thought the option would track files and detect moved or deleted files. I also
thought this would mean that the location of moved files would be updated in
the database but these files wouldn't get backed up again (my assumption...).

I can't explain why the above accurate backup gets so big, the only thing
that I could think of is a huge amount of moved files (or a toplevel directory)
that are backed up again.

So just for clarification, moved files will be detected and _backed_ up again?

Thanks, Ralf
