"Is Btape limited to a 100000 ..."  No, it is limited to 2,000,000 in the 
current code.  Perhaps it was previously limited to 1,000,000 bytes.  There 
is no reason to have any block size larger than about 500,000 on any current 
drive that I know about.  Quantum tells me that for block sizes larger than 
about 256,000 bytes, you might increase the error rate.
