In fact, readline is supported by the bconsole program and does a nice job, 
however, as readline development is not so conservative than we expect in 
Bacula, it may not work on your particular system. We won't spend time to fix 
specific readline or platform bugs (patches are welcome).

Now, this note is quite old, and i don't know if problems are still common 
with readline, but i still agree with it.
