hi, i think about using base jobs, but i am unsure how this can fit into our current backup strategy.
we run weekly schedules (full on sun, incr other days) currently we use D2D backup pool having 2 weeks retention time and CopyDiskToTape into pool having a 2 months default retention time (tape media retention is extended up to one year by script which results in something like tower of hanoi) now i think about using base jobs to backup virtual machines. instead of full backup N virtual machines running the same os (rhel) run only one base job and base all other full backups on it. but there are some questions: when to run base job ? weekly before full, monthly or manual after system upgrade ??? what about base job retention time and recycling ? do i need a special pool having longer retention time ? i assume jobs are incomplete if base job is recycled before his children. what about base jobs and copy, will base job copies work like all other copy jobs ??? anyone using base jobs and copy jobs together ? examples would be very helpful. thanks ulrich -- Ulrich Leodolter <[email protected]> OBVSG ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Bacula-devel mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/bacula-devel
