The only reason I had multiple consoles open in the first place is
trying to troubleshoot the problem.  Normally I *only* have BAT running,
but it is in that case - only BAT open, no bconsoles running, two or
more manual jobs started or scheduled using BAT - that the problem
occurs, and both BAT and bconsole stop being able to connect to the
Director.  Even if I kill BAT, I cannot start a bconsole until at least
one or two of the manually started jobs have completed.
