Hello, If I knew why you were asking, I might understand the problem better (your last sentence seems to go in that direction, but the double negative kept me from really understanding what you wanted to convey -- sorry).
Mainly, it is set when the catalog record for the Storage resource is created when the Director has first started. But it appears that under certain conditions it can get out of sync. I don't know what those conditions are. I suspect they may have something to do with adding Storage definitions or changing storage names. After doing so, I would recommend restarting the Director as a precaution. I am pretty sure that the StorageId is reset during an "update slots" bconsole command, but I haven't checked the code to verify. In any case, I also recommend that you always do an "update slots" on any storage you change.
