Yes, I agree with you considering everything they have done.

The GPL licenses are as far as I can tell all silent about keeping
attributions, which is a real pity, and in my own personal view an
important part of open source providing the contributor wants to be
acknowledged.  This means that the GPL licenses are not completely
supportive of the international copyright law as defined by the Bern
Treaty. At least with the CC-BY-SA license explicitly requires any
redistributions to keep the attributions, which is much clearer. 
Enforcing it (if one so desires) is yet another story.
