Hello Ulrich, In progress means that Bacula Systems is working on this as a new feature. Bacula Systems gives a huge part of what it writes to the community once it is written and has guaranteed to the FSFE that it will give everything it writes within 5 years. As this is a feature in development, no one within Bacula Systems has discussed whether it will be immediately given to the community or delayed. It depends on how much work the feature is (i.e. the CHF investment) and whether or not it is a real differentiating feature.
As far as I know, only one person in the community has expressed a desire to work on this, but what Bacula Systems is doing is probably more vast. In any case, whatever is done on the community side, I will need to ensure that it is compatible with what Bacula Systems is doing since it does not make much sense to have two different implementations. This probably did not answer your question, but it is what I know at the current time.
