So far, I have tested perhaps 80 tapes. I find that if the rawfill succeeds, the scan will too. I'm beginning to consider not running the scan if the rawfill succeeds. By 'succeed', I mean rawfill concludes with messages similar to the above and without messages like the following. > ioctl MTWEOF error on /dev/sa0. ERR=Input/output error. > Bad status from weof -1.
