If you are manually pruning Volumes to run, then you have very likely misconfigured something. There is a whole chapter in the manual devoted to having Bacula run unattended on a Disk based backup. It has been running for well over a year without any intervention on my part. This would not be possible without automatic pruning. That said, I note that there seems to be a bug in 1.37.x where the catalog size is growing despite pruning.
