OK, that's not going to work, because I would like to have multiple pools on a single volume. That's not a very big problem but it would have been nice. I can have the catalog backup on the external harddisk without problems because a harddisk can have multiple volumes unlike tape.

I also tried bscan to recreate a Catalog from a Volume and this worked flawlessly so it's going to work out just fine when the backup server crashes (harddisk failure etc.).

I didn't save the config you posted, and it wouldn't include your pool
contents anyway.  But if I understand correctly what you're saying, a
single volume can be a member of only one Pool at a time.  You cannot
have volumes that are members of multiple Pools.
