Hi,

I've got bacula running sweet, backing up 37 servers into our i2000 scalar tape
library.

One question.. the differential backups all fit on one tape. How do I make
bacula automatically put this tape in the mail slot so our tape shuffler can
easily get it out?

You don't do that with bacula itself.

I'd use some script to run as the last thing in your backup cycle. This script would look into the catalog to find the volumes that can be removed, would unmount them from bacula if necessary, use mtx to transfer them to the right slot, and then send the commands to update the catalog either directly to the catalog or through the console to bacula.

Not the simplest solution, I admit, but once you got it set up right it's better than manually doing the necessary stuff.

In the future, the necessary features might be included in bacula - commands to manage libraries and move tapes have been requested, and I don't think anybody believes they would be useless. So, if you want to program a little... ;-)
