Remember that Bacula is basically a tape based system, so it keeps the Media 
Type in the database, but not a specific Storage daemon.  Thus if you want to 
tie Bacula to a specific Storage daemon, you must have a unique Media Type.
This is explained a bit better in the 1.38.1 manual.
