Hi,
Before you flame me for still using tar let me explain my situation.
I use Bacula to backup all my servers to hard drive volumes. I
also use tar to tapes to do a daily backup of a few directories for
offsite storage. I use tar because I know that I can get my data
off with a minimal set of tools even in the event of failure of my
backup server.
My problem is that I have a very tight time window in which my backups
need to run and various maintenance tasks also need to run. So I
was wondering if I would be able to run my bacula backups and my tar
backups at the same time or would they get in each other's way?
In my mind, it would work fine as it seems that they should both be
able to open the files for reading, but before I end up with broken
backups I thought I would ask the good people on this mailing list.
Kern, thanks for all your hard work and apcupsd too!
