We're looking to optimize our backup space but are finding very little in the way of reports and statistics or reporting capabilities. Things we're looking for are sorted size of backed up files in a given job, large files most commonly changed and backed up again every night etc. so that we can make the most of our backup space and see what files/dirs are eating up the most. Does anybody have any suggestions for us in the way of space optimization or tools to help with it?
Much of the iformation you need should be available in the catalog, so you "just" need the right queries to it. Unfortunately, as far as I know, the file size is not stored in a way it can be easily queried, though.
Two views on the storage space from a higher level are bacula-web and my baculareport.pl script, but I guess that you already discovered these and they don't fit your needs...
Hopefully I didn't miss anything too obvious in my search.
Nothing I knew. Arno
Thanks!
