It sounds like you need to do some testing with your autochanger:

Look for "Testing the Autochanger and Adapting Your mtx-changer Script"

You might just need a "sleep 10" etc.

I admit I neither looked into the manual nor verified what the shipped mtx-changer script does, so you better check these first.

Anyway, signal 1 is - in all cases I know - SIGHUP. This is usually nothing fatal, so you might try to catch that signal in mtx-changer and try to find why it is issued. Or, of course, simply ignore it...
