Hello,
last week I asked some questions about the windows FD and the backup-API on a Win2K Domain Controller. I always get 'ERR=Access is denied' if I want to backup files which can't be accessed with the user account, the backup service is running with. This should normaly work using the windows backup-API.
The only answer I got has been from Attila Fülöp, who told me that he had the same problem until upgrading to Server 2003, which is something I can't do. (No Licence available, much testing needed.) But I tried running Bacula-Client on a WinXP Pro machine, where I don't get those 'ERR=Access is denied'. The Service is simply running with Local System account and the security setting are even managed correctly during restore.
So I'm quite sure I didn't misconfigure anything, at least nothing obvious. Maybe a windows patch is needed or something like that. I would like to know if there is anybody around here who is running the windows FD on a Win2K machine or even more specific on a DomainController and files which are not readable by the user running the Bacula Service are no problem.
Or is this a bug in the FD?
Regards
Christoph
